Success
in today’s sheet metal fabrication industry depends not only upon an
equipment manufacturer’s ability to meet its customers’ current
needs… but also upon its vision and strength to anticipate and
respond to future changes in the marketplace.
The FPL-6 is a breakthrough in sophisticated high-speed laser cutting
for sheet metal fabrication, creating enhanced production with superior
speed, accuracy, and part quality.
The Finn-Power laser is a flying optics system with a working area of
3000 mm (118") X axis; 1500 mm (59") Y axis; and 100 mm
(3.9") Z axis. Maximum positioning speed of X/Y axes simultaneously
up to 300 m/minute (11,811"/min). And, Finn-Power’s unique Ping
Pong repositioning movement allows smooth and efficient transitions for
increased productivity.

The
Finn-Power Laser is designed by using innovative linear drive
motor technology to allow maximum speeds, even in small notches or
narrow contours. Finn-Power provides a new level of high-speed
performance with regard to machining dynamics, contour accuracy, and
process safety.

Positioning
accuracy is measured according to the VDI/DGQ
3441 standard, using a laser measurement system.
The values are based on an area from 39.37” x
39.37” (1 meter x 1 meter).

FRAME
The
FPL6’s unique frame design provides greater
rigidity to accommodate the highest acceleration
and deceleration rates without compromise.
The rigid frame construction allows Finn-Power
to equip the laser with a high speed linear
drive system. This provides higher path
accuracy, thereby increasing production.
COMPACT
DESIGN
The
FPL-6 has a compact design with the resonator and CNC
built into the structure. The positioning of the shuttle
tables is possible on one of two sides of the machine.
This is beneficial when plant layout or production flow
require system layout flexibility.
COMBINATION
CUTTING TABLE
Both
cutting tables are equipped with pins and/or
support grids for more flexibility and support.
They are designed to accommodate a maximum work
piece weight of
800 kg (1,760 lbs.).
LASER
RESONATOR
The
FPL-6 is designed with only two external direct,
water-cooled copper mirrors that are used to
guide the laser beam onto the focusing lens.
Laser beam protection tubes are continuously
pressurized by specially filtered and
dehumidified/dried air.
VACUUM
PUMP & RESONATOR TURBINE
Gas
circulation by the oil-free, radial gas turbine and the oil-free
vacuum pump is an advantage of the 3,500-watt CO2 laser.
Oil-free bearings eliminate the risk of contamination into the
resonator.
AUTOFOCUS
CUTTING HEAD
To
minimize set-up time, an advanced, high-pressure
cutting head is integrated into the system.
The constant distance between the material
surface and the nozzle is achieved with a
non-contact, capacitive, integrated sensing
unit. The cutting head does not have to change
when a focal lens change is required. Only a new
lens cartridge has to be inserted. The
lens mount can be changed in seconds by this
cartridge technique. Cartridges are available
for focal lengths of 5" and 7.5".
Additional
features of the cutting head include:
- Automatic
fast calibration including nozzle surface cleaning
- Connections
for three different assist gases with automatic regulation
up to 25 bar
- Capacitive
(non-contacting) measuring system
CONTROL
SYSTEM
The
Finn-Power FPL-6 Laser is equipped with the
state-of-the-art Siemens Sinumerik 840 D CNC-controller,
with 14" touch screen and integrated Man
Machine Control (MMC) interface. The NC program
memory in Sinumerik 840 D is 1.0 MB.
LINEAR
DRIVE SYSTEM
The
Finn-Power FPL-6 Laser is designed with
digitally-controlled linear drive motor
technology to allow high-speed operation, high
acceleration, as well as highest contour
accuracy. High-path accuracy is achieved
through no-friction components in the drive
system.
