Quality Manager

POSITION SUMMARY

Manage and oversee the Quality Assurance Department and inspection operations of the Division, attaining quality goals through the efficient use of resources and the ability to motivate personnel and continually improve operations.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
  • Provides the highest level of internal and external customer service.
  • Manages and oversee nonconforming material and the corrective action program.
  • Ensures compliance with ISO 9001:2000 guidelines, answers corrective actions, and implements new program guidelines and updates.
  • Manages the calibration of inspection equipment.
  • Facilitates implementation of process control systems and statistical process control charts
  • Provides process improvement know-how, methods, and conceptual expertise to teams.
  • Identifies application opportunities for the technical / statistical tools of quality / process improvement.
  • Facilitates implementation of process control systems and statistical process control charts. Compiles and reports monthly Quality Performance Statistics to Manufacturing Management.
  • Supervises all Quality personnel through direction of Department Leads and Supervisors.
  • Directs managers on day-to-day problem solving and troubleshooting to achieve quality and production goals.
  • Oversees and participates in the training of Quality personnel, ensuring their eventual cross training on every available inspection procedure.
  • Responsible to know and enforce all safety rules and regulations. Provides suggestions for improvement to safety and quality as they are identified.
  • Conduct and supervise internal audits of the quality management system.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE
  • BA / BS or equivalent work experience required.
  • Minimum 5 years extensive experience in Quality Assurance required, including 2 or more years managing the Quality Assurance department of a manufacturing operation of 50 employees or more.
TRAINING REQUIRED
  • ISO-9000 Implementation
  • MS Office: Excel, Access, Word, Power Point

SKILLS
  • Must demonstrate excellent interpersonal and communication skills working with a wide variety of personality types.
  • Excellent time management and organizational skills (multitasking).
  • Must be able to endure periods of high stress and work effectively under deadlines and complex situations.
  • Excellent supervisory and leadership capabilities.
  • Must demonstrate the ability to read all instructions and be able to fill out all required paperwork.
  • Must demonstrate fluency in reading / interpreting manufacturing blueprints.
  • Must demonstrate the ability to calibrate and use precision measuring instruments for inspection of critical dimensions.
  • Experienced in data collection, manipulation, and analysis (fluency in spreadsheet production).
TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS
  • Minimal, mostly local visits to vendors and customers.
WORKING CONDITIONS
  • LIFTING: UP TO 25lbs.
  • FREQUENCY: Daily

Inspector A

POSITION SUMMARY

This position performs product audits and part inspection in a variety of different departments and Inspection functions, including Receiving, First Piece, First Article, Plot Inspection, In-process, MRB, CMM, Calibration Inspection, Hardware Assembly and Ink Stamp Inspection, Prototype, and Final Inspection.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
  • Is able to perform all the various functions in the Quality Department through cross training.
  • Performs attribute inspections utilizing basic hand inspection tools or more advanced measurement devices: calipers, micrometers, scales, CMM, etc.
  • Identifies defects and assists in tracing to the root cause of the problem.
  • Must be knowledgeable of customer’s specifications and their interpretations.
  • May determine allowable variations in quality finish.
  • May be responsible for stopping production.
  • Supports and interprets the Quality System.
  • May assist in the training of less experienced Inspectors.
  • Responsible to know and enforce all Company and Safety rules and regulations, providing suggestions for improvement to quality and safety as they are identified.
NON-ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
  • Perform Miscellaneous duties as the job requires or as assigned by management.
  • Help in other departments as needed.
SUBORDINATE STAFF

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE
  • High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent work experience required.
  • 2 or more years experience as a Quality Assurance Inspector in a manufacturing environment required.
TRAINING REQUIRED
  • ISO-9000 Implementation
  • OSHA Compliance
  • ASOP or DSOP 100 through 211 as applicable
  • A-INS or D-INS 001 through 5004 as applicable
  • Additional Departmental Training as required by Quality Assurance Manager
SKILLS
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and analytical skills a must.
  • Be able to accurately complete all required daily paperwork.
  • Must be able to read, understand, and correctly interpret blueprints.
  • Demonstrate ability to operate precision measuring instruments.
  • Demonstrate ability to understand and follow all instructions given.
  • Exhibits advanced working knowledge of manufacturing quality and safety procedures.
TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS

Inspection of parts in various departments may require the use of proper PPE and Safety Procedures.
